Charged with a DWI or DUI? Don't waste any time, the time to act on your case is now. The Law Offices of Shawn C. Brown are the top DWI/DUI Lawyers voted by S.A. Scene Magazine.

If you have been pulled over and charged with DWI/DUI you probably have many questions about what to do, and there is no limit to questions we can answer for you during a free initial consultation when you contact us.

While you should only rely on the advice of an attorney for your specific case, below are some of the common questions our clients ask about DWI charges and our general responses.

  • What are the penalties for a first-offense DWI?
    • A minimum of 3 days to 180 days confinement, a max $2000 fine (unless a child is in the car), and a license suspension of 90 days to one year.
  • What happens to my driver’s license if I am arrested for DWI?
    • The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will attempt to suspend your driver’s license for 90 to 180 days depending on if you refused or consented to give a sample of breath or blood.
  • What are the penalties for a second-offense DWI?
    • A minimum jail term of 30 days to one year, a maximum of $4,000 fine (unless a child is in the car), license suspension of 180 days to two years, and ignition interlock device.
  • Can I contest license suspension?
    • Yes, but you have no more than 15 days from the date of your arrest to request a hearing.
