A tragic accident during the evening in Austin has left a community mourning after a man was critically injured who later passed away when a tree fell onto the patio area of Green Mesquite BBQ in south Austin.
The victim was later identified by the restaurant as Kirk Foyle, a longtime customer and well-known member of the Zilker neighborhood. According to officials, the incident happened last Tuesday night.

According to Austin-Travis County EMS, crews responded around 9:20 p.m. to reports of a person trapped underneath a fallen tree at Green Mesquite BBQ.

- Firefighters worked to free the individual trapped beneath the tree.
- Austin Fire Department personnel rode with EMS to the hospital during transport.
- Austin Police Department officers also responded to the scene.
Green Mesquite confirmed that Kirk Foyle had died from his injuries.
