Prior to assuming her responsibilities as a District Judge, Attorney Daphne Previti served as an Assistant District Attorney from 1997 to 2008 and became Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Juvenile Law in 2002. Throughout 2008-2014 she practiced criminal and juvenile defense in her private practice. During this time, Daphne also served as a Mentor with both the San Antonio Bar Association and the San Antonio Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, as a Juvenile Law Referee for 2010 and 2011, and was recognized as a San Antonio Best Lawyer by San Antonio Scene Magazine in both 2014 and 2015. In 2015, Attorney Daphne Previti was nominated to join and became a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. Each year, only the top 1/3 of 1% of Texas attorneys are invited to become Fellows (or members) of the Texas Bar Foundation. Election to the Fellows is one of the highest honors that can be bestowed upon a member of the State Bar of Texas as nomination is based on outstanding contributions to both the legal profession as well as a commitment to the community. In addition to her honors, Daphne has tried more than 100 cases to verdict in state and federal court.
While serving as a District Judge, Attorney Daphne Previti created the 289th MIND (Males in Need of Direction) Court which provides services to young men with identified mental health needs, the first court of its kind in the country. In 2017, she began presiding over a similar program providing services for young woman with identified mental wellness challenges, the 289th Crossroads Court. Judge Daphne Previti served on the Advisory Board of the Alamo Youth Center, which in 2017 led to the creation of Centro Seguro, the first drop-in-center in the country for children who are victims of human trafficking, serving 250 youth in its first year. She is a frequent speaker on Juvenile Justice and Mental Health Initiatives.
Additionally, while serving as a Judge, Daphne Previti joined the Teen Health Stakeholder Leadership Team, working closely with Teen Health initiatives with the University of Texas. There, she contacted all the juvenile judges in Texas to in an effort to expand the capacity of services offered by UT across the entire State of Texas. She served on the Juvenile Board from 2015-2018 and Chaired the Trial Court Committee of the Juvenile Board from 2017-2018. She was also assigned to Co-Chair the District Courts' Interpreters Oversight Committee for 2018. Since joining our firm, Daphne Previti has been recognized as a Top 100 National Trial Lawyer for 2019 and 2020 as well as nominated by her peers as a Best SA Lawyer for 2019-2023 and a top San Antonio DUI/DWI Attorney for 2020-2023, and Outstanding Women In Law 2021-2024 by "San Antonio Scene" magazine.
